  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • ½ lb. macaroni (2 cups)
  • ½ cup yellow onion (diced)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 8 oz. tomato sauce
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese
  • 1½ cups beef broth
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • Seasonings: salt, pepper, oregano, basil, parsley

Instructions

  1. In a large measuring cup with a spout, combine the sauce ingredients and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook seasoned ground beef for 3 minutes, then add diced onions and sauté until cooked through (5-6 minutes). Drain grease.
  3. Boil water in a large pot for macaroni; add salt once boiling.
  4. In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat; stir in minced garlic, flour, and tomato paste; cook for 1-2 minutes.
  5. Slowly incorporate the sauce mixture while stirring continuously until thickened.
  6. Simmer the sauce while cooking macaroni until al dente; drain pasta.
  7. Add cheese gradually to the sauce while stirring until melted.
  8. Combine the ground beef mixture and cooked macaroni into the sauce; stir well.
  9. Serve hot with optional cheese on top.
