  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon EACH: salt, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, paprika
  • ¼ cup dry red apple vinegar (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 small yellow onion (diced)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 beef bouillon cube
  • 1 ½ teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • ¼ teaspoon EACH: dried thyme, dried rosemary
  • 3 tablespoons corn starch + 1/4 cup cold water

Instructions

  1. Cut sirloin into 1-inch cubes and toss with flour and seasoning.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat; brown beef in batches until seared.
  3. Deglaze the pan with vinegar, then sauté onions and garlic until softened.
  4. Add remaining ingredients to the skillet and bring to a boil.
  5. Thicken gravy with cornstarch mixture, then return beef to the skillet.
  6. Simmer on low until beef is tender and cooked through.
